| Дом на углу улиц Карельской и Ленина (бывшей Ратушной) был построен по проекту архитектора Берндта Ивара Аминова (1843-1926) для купца Петтера Берга (1813-1893). У него были нескольких судов, которые перевозили грузы и товары по Ладожскому озеру из Санкт-Петербурга в Великое княжество Финляндское. | The Karelskaya and Lenin Street (formerly Raatihuoneenkatu) corner house was built by the architect Berndt Ivar Aminov (1843-1926) for the merchant Petter Berg (1813-1893). Petter Berg was a famous and respected person in the city. He opened a store here, traded flour, exotic and haberdashery goods, and served as a judge. He owned several ships that transported cargo and goods across Lake Ladoga from St. Petersburg to the Grand Duchy of Finland. | La maison située à l’angle des rues Karelskaya et Lénine (anciennement rue Raatihuoneenkatu) a été construite par l’architecte Berndt Ivar Aminov (1843-1926) pour le marchand Petter Berg (1813-1893). Thanks to his efforts, sidewalks were built and street lighting was installed in Sortavala. In the period of his city management a great deal of street landscaping was carried out. Carl Gustaf represented the town at parliamentary days in Helsinki in 1872, 1877-1878, 1882, 1891 and 1894. In 1877-1878 he defended the necessity of building a teachers’ seminary in Sortavala. In 1882 Carl Berg set to organize and build a naval school in the town, which was effectively built, opened its doors in 1892 and existed till 1917. | Petter était le père du premier bourgmestre – Karl, et Karl Gustav Berg a non seulement pris part à toutes les affaires économiques et municipales de la ville, mais a souvent pris l’initiative des questions soulevées. In 1928 Sortavala Cooperative Union (Sortavalan Osuusliike) bought the land where the house stood from Berg’s heirs and rebuilt the buildings for their own needsé By 1930 the round corner tower – a landmark of the building – was demolished. In 1943, the cooperative administration moved to a white stone building nearby, and the house was rebuilt again, changing the facade. In my childhood years I liked to visit the store of children’s goods, nicknamed “Alyonushka”. In 1976, the store burned to the ground and the lot was empty until May 2019. | Cette maison est apparue pour la première fois sur le plan de la ville en 1857. En 1928, l’Union coopérative de Sortavala (Sortavalan Osuusliike) a acheté le terrain où se trouvait la maison aux héritiers de Berg et a reconstruit les bâtiments pour ses propres besoins. En 1930, la tour d’angle ronde – un point de repère du bâtiment – a été démolie. En 1943, l’administration de la coopérative a déménagé dans un bâtiment en pierre blanche situé à proximité, et la maison a été reconstruite à nouveau, avec le changement de la façade. | Я хорошо помню большую витрину магазина, которая казалась нам, мальчишкам, настоящим чудом: летом по всему стеклу бежали струйки воды. Вторая такая витрина была на улице Кирова. Очень быстро, впрочем, вода перестала течь. Что-то сломалось, наверное, а чинить не стали. Или хотели починить, да не смогли. Как очень многое из того, что финны оставили русским в наследство, да не в коня пришёлся корм. | I remember well the big store window, which seemed to us boys like a real miracle: in summer there were streams of water running all over the glass. The second such window was on Kirov Street. Very quickly, though, the water stopped flowing. Something must have broken, but they did not fix it. Or they wanted to, but couldn’t. Like so much of what the Finns left the Russians all turned to be a wasted effort. | Je me souviens bien de la grande vitrine du magasin, qui nous apparaissait à nous, les garçons, comme un véritable miracle : en été, des filets d’eau coulaient sur la vitre. | Только к началу 2019 года при участии бизнесмена Игоря Лейтиса начались строительные работы по восстановлению этой достопримечательности. Они велись по современным технологиям, дом построили из железобетонного монолита, но снаружи абсолютно соблюдена историческая отделка, вплоть до деревянных окон. | Only by the beginning of 2019, with the participation of businessman Igor Leitis, construction work on the restoration of this landmark began. | Появился не просто исторический объект, но и точка притяжения туризма, потому что здесь расположены и рыбный ресторан, и магазин товаров местных производителей. Вместе с этим домом центр города приобретает целостный исторический вид. Достичь результата удалось благодаря сохранившимся проектным и фотоматериалам. Была выполнена графическая реконструкция здания в том виде, в каком он существовал в 1880 году. Строение имеет облик, соответствующий городской застройке Сортавалы последней четверти XIX – начала XX века. | It is not just a historical object, but also a tourist attraction, because there is a fish restaurant and a store of local products. Together with this house, the city center acquires a coherent historical appearance. It was possible to achieve this result thanks to the preserved design and photo materials. The building was graphically reconstructed as it appeared in 1880. The building has an appearance corresponding to the urban planning of Sortavala of the last quarter of the XIX century and the beginning of the XX century. | Ce n’est pas seulement un objet historique, mais aussi une attraction touristique, car on y trouve un restaurant oú on sert des plats de poisson de poissons et un magasin de produits locaux. Avec cette maison, le centre de la ville acquiert une apparence historique cohérente. Ce résultat a pu être obtenu grâce à la conception préservée et aux matériaux photographiques. Le bâtiment a été reconstruit graphiquement tel qu’il apparaissait en 1880. La maison a une apparence correspondant à l’urbanisme de Sortavala du dernier quart du XIXe siècle et du début du XXe siècle. |
| Отдельно стоит отметить памятник, который «усадили» на лавочку у дома Берга. Это памятник финскому архитектору Уно Вернеру Ульбергу. К дому он не имел никакого отношения, зато построил множество других знаковых зданий Сортавалы. Например, филиал Банка Финляндии на площади Вяйнямёйнена, 4 (1915 год) или автобусную станцию на улице Кирова, 1 (1935 год). С памятником охотно фотографируются местные жители и туристы. | Of particular notice is the monument that was “seated” on the bench in front of the Berg house. It is dedicated to the Finnish architect Uno Werner Ullberg. He had nothing to do with the house, but he built many other iconic buildings in Sortavala. For example the branch of Bank of Finland at Väinämöinen square 4 (1915) or the bus station at Kirov street 1 (1935). The monument is willingly photographed by locals and tourists. | Le monument qui a été “assis” sur le banc en face de la maison Berg est particulièrement remarquable.
